NGC 5307

No, its not a Jelly Fish, but rather, a planetary nebula over 10,600 light years from Earth in the constellation of Centaurus.

What you’re looking at is the shell of a once sun like star, slowly moving away as the it began the process of collapsing into a white dwarf.

The gas lost to space by the star, continues to glow while being bombarded by ultra violet light from the dying star.

It will be many thousands of years before the gas disperses enough to vanish, leaving only the white dwarf and any companion stars it may have with it.
