The name translates to “Vampire squid from hell.” It is not a vampire or a squid, it is actually an octopus. The vampire squid releases bio-luminescent ‘ink’ when defending it self to confuse other animals. It also turns itself inside out when in danger.

kemetic-dreams: The Dogon tells the legend of the Nommos,…
The Dogon tells the legend of the Nommos, awful-looking beings who arrived in a vessel along with fire and thunder. After they arrived here - they put out a reservoir of water onto the Earth then dove into the water.
The Nommos were more fishlike than human, and had to live in water. They were saviors and spiritual guardians: “The Nommo divided his body among men to feed them; that is why it is also said that as the universe “had drunk of his body,” the Nommo also made men drink. He gave all his life principles to human beings.“

astronomyblog: Saturn’s atmosphere exhibits a banded pattern…
Saturn’s atmosphere exhibits a banded pattern similar to Jupiter’s, but Saturn’s bands are much fainter and are much wider near the equator. The nomenclature used to describe these bands is the same as on Jupiter. Saturn’s finer cloud patterns were not observed until the flybys of the Voyager spacecraft during the 1980s. Since then, Earth-based telescopy has improved to the point where regular observations can be made. The composition of the clouds varies with depth and increasing pressure.
The winds on Saturn are the second fastest among the Solar System’s planets, after Neptune’s. Voyager data indicate peak easterly winds of 500 m/s (1,800 km/h).
Thermography has shown that Saturn’s south pole has a warm polar vortex, the only known example of such a phenomenon in the Solar System. Whereas temperatures on Saturn are normally −185 °C, temperatures on the vortex often reach as high as −122 °C, suspected to be the warmest spot on Saturn.

Nnedi Okorafor’s Binti trilogy
There will be a Binti omnibus (published by @dawbooks, the publisher of WHO FEARS DEATH). And it will include a brand new Binti story called, “Sacred Fire”.
The eponymous Binti is the first of her people ever to be offered a place at Oomza University, the finest institution of higher learning in the galaxy. But to accept the offer will mean giving up her place in her family to travel between the stars among strangers who do not share her ways or respect her customs. Oomza has previously wronged the Meduse, an alien race that has become the stuff of nightmares, and Binti’s interplanetary travel will bring her within their deadly reach.
If she hopes to survive the legacy of this ancient conflict, she will need both the the gifts of her people and the wisdom enshrined within the University, itself - but first she has to make it there, alive.”

Nnedi Okorafor, born to Igbo Nigerian parents in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 8, 1974, is an author of fantasy and science fiction for both adults and younger readers.
