In the VR short film “The Other Dakar”, Senegalese fashion
designer Selly Raby Kane presents a magical 360 piece, in which a little
girl is chosen to discover the invisible Dakar.
The work will have its South African Premiere at the
Goethe-Institut Johannesburg from 2 to 4 June as part of Encounters
International Documentary Film Festival, and also show at The American
Corner, Central Library in Cape Town from 8 to 10 June. Presented by
Electric South and the Goethe Institut as part of the New Dimensions
project.
NGC 2359 (also known as Thor’s Helmet) is an emission nebula in the constellation Canis Major. The nebula is approximately 11.96 thousand light years away and 30 light-years in size. The central star is the Wolf-Rayet star WR7, an extremely hot giant thought to be in a brief pre-supernova stage of evolution. It is similar in nature to the Bubble Nebula, but interactions with a nearby large molecular cloud are thought to have contributed to the more complex shape and curved bow-shock structure of Thor’s Helmet.
It is also catalogued as Sharpless 2-298 and Gum 4.
The nebula has an overall bubble shape, but with complex filamentary structures. The nebula contains several hundred solar masses of ionised material, plus several thousand more of unionised gas. It is largely interstellar material swept up by winds from the central star, although some material does appear to be enriched with the products of fusion and is likely to come directly from the star.The expansion rate of different portions of the nebula varies from 10km/s to at least 30km/s, leading to age estimates of 78,500 - 236,000 years. The nebula has been studied at radio and x-ray wavelengths, but it is still unclear whether it was produced at the class O main sequence stage of development, as a red supergiant, luminous blue variable, or mainly as a Wolf-Rayet star.

As we know, spring is the time celebrate the the death of winter and the re-awakening of the earth. After the cold and dark winter months, we re-emerge from our cocoons of introspection and reflection to re-engage in the life-giving energies of strength, renewal and cleansing. The equinox’s light and dark are equal as the Sun God’s energy increases to balance the Maiden Goddess’s maturation. The Wheel of the Year moves toward nature’s warmth and the Divine Couple’s fertility that is celebrated at Beltane.
During this time of year, I honor my Kemetic deities and reflect on “The Osiris Myth,” wherein the god Osiris gives us the themes of rebirth/resurrection, the goddess Isis represents renewal and cleansing and the posthumous conception and birth of their Son, Horus shows us the crucial and powerful fertility of the Divine Couple.
Isis is connected with the Sky and Cosmos (“Queen of the Heavens”), queendom, femininity, magick and healing. Her Brother and Husband, Osiris is connected with fertility, kingship, and is the Ruler of maat, the ideal natural order whose maintenance was essential in ancient Kemetic culture. Their Brother, Set is associated with the control of Violence and Chaos, best illustrated in the accounts of His assisting the Sun God, Ra on His daily mission to repel the formidable monster of chaos/destruction.
Regardless of his reasoning, the myth tells of Set murdering and dismembering Osiris (who was the Ruler of Egypt at the time) and Isis’s efforts to revive Him. Isis (with the help of Thoth and Anubis) mummified and administered several magickal healing spells and protections. Throughout the ordeal, Isis and and Her Twin Sister Nephthys also offered extensive sorrowful cries and angry pleas, which helped reanimate Osiris when combined.
Now resurrected, Osiris was only allowed to rule as King in the Underworld - reviving and presiding over the Judgement of souls. After Her husband’s rebirth, Isis continued Her duties in the Heavens but took a more active role in funerary rites by serving on the Divine Judgement Council and guiding the souls of the deceased through the dangerous Underworld. Being relegated to the Underworld, Osiris needed an Heir to continue his work on Earth and in the Heavens. Isis’s re-awakening of her Life-Giving Husband made their Divine Son, Horus’s birth possible.

The dust and gas in the pillars is seared by the intense radiation from young stars and eroded by strong winds from massive nearby stars. With these new images comes better contrast and a clearer view for astronomers to study how the structure of the pillars is changing over time.
Conspiracy Theories - #1 - The ‘Vimanas’ described in ancient Indian texts as early as the 9th century B.C. were actually UFO’s.
In Sanskrit, “vimana” literally translates to “traversing”. Monier Monier-Williams, a Professor of Sanskrit at Oxford University, described the vimanas as “a car or chariot of the gods, any self-moving aerial car sometimes serving as a seat or throne…one kind is said to be seven stories high”. ‘Vimana’ or ‘vimanam’ also means aircraft in Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi. All originated within India and come from the same approximate time period.
They appeared primarily in ancient Hindu texts but also in Sanskrit epics and were even mentioned several times in Jainist texts. The Hindu philosopher Swami Dayanada Saraswati also gave his description of the vimana as: “a craft using fire and water, containing twelve stamgahs [pillars], one wheel, three machines, 300 pivots and 60 instruments”.
What theorists propose is that these ancient ornate flying fortresses, often having been portrayed as emitting light and flying through the skies, were neither mythical nor chariots of the gods but actually early human civilisations’ accounts of alien spacecraft.
Aja is a patron of the forest and all the animals within it. She holds the secrets of botany, and is a master of potions and healing herbs. She passed this skill to the Yoruban people, who practice her craft to this very day.
